We went to El Agave for the first time ever this week. It was "Taco Tuesday". Their margaritas were delicious and only $3.99. Their food looked so good that we ended up skipping tacos and ordering the sope plate and the pazole. While we waited for our food they brought out chips and salsa. The salsa was fabulous! It had a color indicating they roasted the chili's. I thought my husband made the best salsa but their recipe outdid him. We also loved our meals. The pazole had big chunks of meat in it and it was so authentic and delicious. My sopes were great and the refried beans were delicious. This restaurant was such a treat for us.
Note: service was a little slow but to be fair it was very busy as it is a popular place.
Also they mischarged us $5.99 for each margarita instead of $3.99. When I pointed the error out they immediately corrected their mistake. We are going back there as we loved their food! -

Oh wow..
Let me begin, El Agave, by pointing out the multitude of Mexican restaurants in Auburn. You have obvious competition, which is noticeable when viewing your empty lobby.
Now, when I arrived, there was a server and his girlfriend kissing and groping each other in the entryway. Interesting. I was then seated in the back of the restaurant at a wobbly table set up for 8 people. When the small man who was my server asked what I wanted to drink and I said water, he rolled his eyes and sloughed off.
Wait, surely I misread that.
He brought back some stale chips and my water and it was at that moment my father called with news that my aunt had been hospitalized. I was getting ready to step out for just a moment because nobody appreciates a person speaking on the phone in a restaurant, when my server came back. He asked if I was ready. I said, "I'm so sorry it's my dad and I just have to step out for a moment.."
And get this. HE ROLLED HIS EYES AGAIN and started to mumble something. Ha-classic.
Needless to say, I left. I won't return again, and this is a place I've supported at both locations for years. Keep up the good work guys smh. -

This place right here! Wow talk about friendly! Had some time to kill..... I came into a calm beautiful setting. Bar in small but really cute. The bartender was awesome. They have a great happy hour. I tried a house Margarita and Ceviche! Whoa was a blown away! The Shrimp was done spot on! Very fresh, light and not to much going on! I'm always hesitant to try this dish in place due to it being seafood! It has to be done right and Check! It was served with a nice size portion for happy hour. Chips and Salsa came complimentary! Yeppie! My Margarita was refreshing not too sweet or sour and I could taste the liquor! Woo Hoo!
The Bartender told me about Taco Tuesday! He says they have a fish taco that is Amazing. Well Carlos I'll be back to try it! Thank you for your great Hospitality! -

I'm a sucker for Mexican food. Love finding new spots. We definitely found a gem! The Customer service was remarkable. The food was heavenly and the adult beverage was a masterpiece. We will definitely make the drive to go back.

The shrimp burrito was jumbo size and satisfactory. It was a to/go order. I waited over 15 minutes around 2pm
